The Magic of December Begins: Christmas Preparations at the North Pole

1st December 2025

Mrs Claus

Mrs Claus oversees North Pole magic, guiding elves, baking legendary treats and keeping The Nice List in perfect order. A warm heart, sharp mind and storyteller for The North Pole Times.

It’s finally here! The 1st of December — the day the North Pole transforms from a cosy winter wonderland into a whirlwind of Christmas cheer! The scent of gingerbread fills the air, the snow sparkles like sugar crystals, and everywhere you look, there’s an elf rushing past with armfuls of toys, tinsel, and to-do lists longer than Santa’s beard.

Inside Santa’s Workshop, the elves are working in perfect harmony — well, mostly! There’s always a bit of cheeky chatter and the occasional snowball flying through the door. Buddy the Elf is testing the toy trains (again), while Tinker and Twizzle are making sure every teddy bear gets its finishing touch — a soft red ribbon tied just so.

Meanwhile, Santa’s deep in his study, checking and double-checking the Naughty and Nice Lists. He’s so focused that he hasn’t even finished his hot chocolate (which tells you just how busy he is!). I’ve been keeping the kitchen ovens glowing all day, baking mince pies and biscuits to keep everyone’s spirits — and energy — up. After all, even the jolliest elf works best after a good snack!

Outside, the reindeer are stretching their legs in the training fields. Rudolph’s nose is shining brighter than ever, lighting the way for the younger reindeer to practise their landings. You should see Dasher and Dancer showing off their new tricks — though I keep reminding them this is Christmas Eve work, not a circus!

By sunset, the whole village twinkles with fairy lights. The sound of laughter echoes from the workshop, and the bells on Santa’s sleigh give a cheerful jingle every time the wind blows. It’s a magical moment — the beginning of our busiest, happiest time of year.

So, as December begins, remember this: while we’re working hard up here in the snow, we’re thinking of you — the children around the world who make Christmas so special. Keep being kind, keep helping others, and keep believing. The countdown to Christmas has truly begun!
